As a molecular biology major at ºù«Ӱҵ, you’ll map genes using fruit flies (as part of an NSF-funded multi-institution course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE)), test the ability of chemicals to mutate DNA, and clone genes. In your coursework, you will explore breakthroughs in DNA sequencing, gene editing technologies and debate the ethical and social issues involved.
Large institutions just can’t provide the individualized attention and opportunity you’ll find here. As a freshman, you’ll be in the lab working with real professors – not graduate assistants or lab instructors. Throughout your four years, you’ll design and conduct your own experiments, work on independent projects, and assist professors with grant-funded research. Most molecular biology students present their research at regional and national conferences.Ìý
